Miami Beach Homes and Condos

Miami Beach is a coastal resort city in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It is located on a series of natural and man-made barrier islands between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay, the latter which separates the Beach from Miami city proper. The neighborhood of South Beach,also known as SoBe, or simply the Beach, begins at the area from Biscayne Street, also known as South Pointe Drive one block south of 1st Street to about 23rd Street and it is one of the most popular areas of Miami Beach.

Miami Beach, the city that’s long been a holiday haven and refuge for millions of visitors from across the country and around the world, has become in the last ten years more than a tourist destination and has proven to be the next major global city that’s on everyone’s radar screen.  Business and real estate interests have exploded on Miami Beach, transforming the city into a global brand regarding retail, restaurant and real estate growth while celebrities and celebrity chefs keep coming to the city.

In terms of Real Estate a house at 34 LaGorce Circle in Miami Beach sold in early May for $14 million, setting a record price per square foot for Miami-Dade County.  Also, in April 2013 the most expensive penthouse apartment was sold on Miami Beach at the Faena House condominium for a record-breaking $50 million. The commercial real estate business is also booming in South Florida. Rent on Lincoln Road has increased from $200/square foot a month to $300/square foot a month and international retailers and companies are opening stores in Miami Beach in volumes.

In terms of Retail a lot of new companies are eyeing the city: Spanish retailer Zara is opening one of its largest stores on Lincoln Road this summer; French bakery Lauderee opened its first ever U.S. location on Miami Beach in February 2014 and the first Adidas by Stella McCartney store in the U.S. is also planned. Other retailers as well as Custo Barcelona and Osklen; luxury car company, Tesla; celebrity clothier, John Varvatos; British cosmetics company, LUSH; and recognizable names like H+M, Forever 21 and Victoria’s Secret are part of this area.

In terms of Culture there are major cultural events happening. In addition to Art Basel, one of the largest furniture and design shows in the world set Miami Beach as location for its first North American fair: Maison & Objet will be exhibiting at the Miami Beach convention center in May 2015. Maison & Objet attracts 80,000 interior designers, decorators, developers, hotels, restaurants, journalists and investors. The successful and popular art fair SCOPE returns to Miami Beach for the second time after retiring from Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood, the Pulse Art Fair is changing location from Wynwood to Miami Beach this year, too.
